Skillz Alternatives: Live 1v1 Skill Games on Wagr
Skillz is a platform that runs competitions inside many third-party mobile games. Players enter head-to-head matches and tournaments and are matched by skill level. Depending on the game, contests use cash, virtual currency, or both. If you want a different kind of competition, this guide explains what to compare and how Wagr works. Details about other apps describe their public listings as of October 2026; check each app's own terms for current rules.
How Skillz-powered games work
Skillz provides the competition layer for games built by other developers. Contest types depend on the game. Some Skillz-enabled games offer both cash contests and contests played with virtual currency, while others use virtual currency only. Entry requirements depend on the contest type and currency.
Because each game comes from a different developer, controls, scoring, and match length vary from title to title.
What to compare in an alternative
Match format: do you play live against one opponent, or complete a run and have your score compared? Game variety: is there one game, or a library in one account? Free play: can you practice without a deposit?
Also compare where cash play is available, how withdrawals work, and how the app explains its contest rules.
How Wagr works
Wagr is one app with its own library of games, on the web at wagr.co and on iOS, with one account across both. Duel titles such as Pocket Pool, Mini Golf, Knock Soccer, and Triple Jack match you with one opponent in a live match. Solo titles rank a completed score.
You can play for free with Stars. Cash contests are available where Wagr offers them. Wagr also has tournaments, squads with weekly rankings, leaderboards, and chat with friends.
